Insomniac Games Pitched Resistance 4, But Never Got It Approved

by Daniel Apr 01,2025

Insomniac Games founder and outgoing president Ted Price recently shared insights into a project that never saw the light of day during an interview with Kinda Funny Games. As he prepares to retire after an impressive 30-year tenure at the helm of the studio, Price revealed that one of his favorite pitched but unmade games was "Resistance 4."

"Yeah, I’ll share one. Resistance 4," Price stated, expressing the team's enthusiasm for the project. He explained that despite the wonderful concept and the team's passion for extending the Resistance storyline, the timing and market opportunity simply didn't align. Price highlighted the series' unique alternate history setting, which he believes offers endless possibilities for exploring the Chimera's origins and future.

The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac, consists of first-person shooters set in an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951. Following their work on the Ratchet and Clank games, Insomniac released three Resistance titles for the PlayStation 3 before shifting focus to other projects, including the acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank games.

Earlier this year, Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games. He has appointed Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as Co-Studio Heads to succeed him. Insomniac's latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has recently been made available on PC, and the studio is currently working on Marvel’s Wolverine as their next project.
