The Nintendo Switch 2 wouldn't be complete without a Zelda title, and fans were thrilled to learn about a surprising addition during today's Nintendo Direct. Koei Tecmo is set to release a new installment in the Hyrule Warriors series, titled "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment." This game serves as a prequel to "Tears of the Kingdom" and is slated for release this winter.
"Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment" brings back the action-packed gameplay fans love, but this time with characters from the ancient history of "Tears of the Kingdom." Players will follow Zelda as she journeys back in time, teaming up with the last Zonai, Rauru, his sister Mineru, and his wife Sonia. Together, they battle against Ganondorf and his forces, exploring the events that transpired while Zelda was away.

The trailer showcased some of the unique abilities of the game's champions, such as Mineru piloting a mech, Zelda wielding powerful magic, Rauru with his intriguing sword-spear, and quick glimpses of other Sacred Stone wielders in action.
This marks the third entry in the Hyrule Warriors series, following the original "Hyrule Warriors" and "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity," which served as a prequel to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." "Age of Calamity" was notable for its fresh take on the known narrative, and it will be fascinating to see if "Age of Imprisonment" follows suit with its own unique twists. "Age of Calamity" received a stellar 9/10 from us, praised for being "a joy to play and discover" and "a blast from start to finish."
