Navigating the vast, synthwave-inspired landscapes of the Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can be a challenge, but fear not—your trusty Hoverboard is here to make traversing this world a breeze. Right from the start of the game, you're equipped with this essential tool, which serves as more than just a means of getting around quickly.
The Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker acts as your sprint mechanic, boosting your movement speed across large distances while slowly depleting your Energy. This guide will walk you through summoning your Hoverboard and explore some of its key features that make it indispensable in the Overgrowth.
To get rolling on your Hoverboard, simply hold down the Dodge input. Your character will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you keep the Dodge button pressed.
Controlling the Hoverboard is straightforward: tilt the left analog stick to lean and steer in your desired direction. The faster you go, the slower your turns will be, but at lower speeds, you'll find it easier to maneuver.
To dismount, just release the Dodge input. Be mindful of your Energy, which is displayed next to your Breaker's companion. If it runs out while you're on the Hoverboard, you'll be automatically dismounted. If your Energy gets low, take a moment to hop off and let it recharge, ensuring you don't get stranded mid-journey.
While you can't perform tricks or attack while riding, the Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker offers some unique functionalities that enhance your gameplay. Notably, it floats on water, allowing you to glide across inlets and rivers seamlessly. Just remember, you need to be on the Hoverboard before entering the water; you can't summon it while submerged.
Another handy feature is the ability to duck down by holding the Jump input while on the Hoverboard. This doesn't increase your speed or jump height, but it helps you prepare for jumps across long gaps, making those tricky maneuvers a bit more manageable. While you can't double-jump, the Hoverboard's speed can still help you cover impressive distances.
