As part of its expansive HP Memorial Day Sale, HP is rolling out some stellar deals on its latest Omen Max 16 gaming laptops, featuring the cutting-edge Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 mobile graphics cards. The Omen Max 16 is HP's flagship gaming laptop for 2025, building upon the foundation of the Omen 16 with enhanced materials like an aluminum-magnesium alloy chassis and lid, and a robust cooling system designed to handle the demands of the latest generation hardware. These new GPUs offer a significant performance boost over the RTX 40 series, with the RTX 5070 Ti matching the RTX 4080 and the RTX 5080 outperforming the RTX 4090.
Originally priced at $2,499.99, this HP Omen Max 16 is now available for just $2,179.99, a 13% discount. It comes equipped with a 16-inch display at a 1920x1200 resolution, powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX processor, GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics, 16GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The Core Ultra 7 255HX features a max turbo frequency of 5.2GHz, boasting 20 cores and 36GB of total L2 cache. This processor is a current-generation Intel CPU and matches the gaming performance of the Core Ultra 9 275HX.
According to Notebookcheck, the RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU is the true successor to the RTX 4070, delivering performance equivalent to the RTX 4080. In contrast, the RTX 5070 falls behind, performing similarly to the RTX 4070. This configuration should comfortably run any game at the display's native 1920x1200 resolution.
This HP Omen Max 16 model, originally $3,299.99, is now on sale for $2,799.99, offering a 15% savings. It features a 16-inch display with a 2560x1600 resolution, an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, GeForce RTX 5080 graphics, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The Core Ultra 9 275HX reaches a max turbo frequency of 5.4GHz, with 24 cores and 40MB of total L2 cache. As per Passmark, this is the fastest laptop processor currently available, outperforming the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D by 7%.
Tom's Hardware reports that the RTX 5080 mobile GPU is about 15%-20% more powerful than the RTX 4080 it replaces, and it also edges out the RTX 4090 by about 5%. The RTX 5080 offers better value than the significantly more expensive RTX 5090, with only a 15% performance gap despite being nearly $1,000 less. This GPU should handle new and upcoming games at high frame rates, even at the display's native 2560x1600 resolution.
