HoYoverse's filing of the Honkai Nexus Anima trademark has sparked excitement and speculation about the future of the Honkai series. Dive in to uncover what this could mean for miHoYo and their upcoming projects.

HoYoverse is set to expand the Honkai universe with a potential new addition to the series. The Chinese game developer miHoYo, along with its global arm HoYoverse, has applied for a trademark named "Honkai Nexus Anima." While details about this new intellectual property remain scarce, its name hints at it being the third installment in the Honkai series, succeeding Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail.
The trademark application for Honkai Nexus Anima initially appeared on the Korea Intellectual Property Information Search’s (KIPRIS) website before being removed. However, it remains listed on the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) website.

The Honkai series kicked off with Honkai Impact 3rd, a free-to-play mobile action RPG considered the spiritual successor to Houkai Gakuen 2, a classic 2D side-scrolling shooter. This was followed by Honkai Star Rail in 2023, another free-to-play mobile game, but with turn-based combat.
Though both games share thematic elements related to space and occasionally similar characters, they are set in distinct universes and narrate unique stories. Fans are buzzing with the idea that Honkai Nexus Anima might introduce a new genre, reflecting miHoYo’s varied game development approach.

In the wake of the trademark filings, new Twitter (X) accounts bearing the Honkai Nexus Anima name have emerged. These accounts, such as "@HonkaiNA", "@HonkaiNA_RU", and "@HonkaiNA_FR", follow a consistent naming pattern, possibly indicating regional targeting.
Securing these social media handles is a common strategy for game developers to ensure uniform branding across various platforms and websites.

Earlier this year, miHoYo released several job listings, offering a sneak peek into their ongoing projects. According to reports from GosuGamers, citing @chibi0108 on Twitter, they are developing an "auto-chess" game featuring "Destined Spirits" in battles. Although the original job listings are not publicly accessible, these details fuel speculation about the nature of Honkai Nexus Anima.
While HoYoverse has not yet officially confirmed these speculations or announced the game, fans are drawing connections between Honkai Nexus Anima and the auto-chess project mentioned in the job listings. Given miHoYo's successful track record with titles like Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, anticipation is high for what this new project might bring.
