Exciting news for fans of the much-anticipated indie game, *Hollow Knight: Silksong*! IGN has revealed that the game, developed by Team Cherry in Adelaide, South Australia, will be available for play at Australia’s national museum of screen culture, ACMI, starting September 18, 2025. As part of the 'Game Worlds' exhibition in Melbourne, visitors will not only have the chance to dive into the game's world but also explore its intricate design and artistic direction through various displays.

Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell, co-curators at ACMI, expressed their enthusiasm: “Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September. From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design. We’re so grateful to Team Cherry for trusting us with their work, and so excited to share that work with you!”

To give fans a sneak peek, ACMI shared a sprite sheet from *Silksong*, which will be among the game's design elements showcased in the exhibition. This image was provided to IGN with permission.

While the playable demo at ACMI hints at a release before September 18, the exact launch date remains a mystery. Speculation suggests an August release might be in the cards. The buzz around *Silksong* continues to grow, especially after its brief appearance at Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct last month, where Team Cherry reaffirmed the 2025 release window with a fleeting glimpse of new gameplay.

*Silksong* was initially announced for Nintendo Switch and PC, with versions for Xbox (and Game Pass), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 planned for later. The game has been surrounded by intriguing teases over the years, including a mysterious chocolate cake recipe hint at the start of 2025, stirring anticipation among fans.
