Rogue Loops: A Hades-Inspired Roguelike with a Twist

The upcoming indie roguelike, Rogue Loops, is heavily inspired by Hades, boasting similar art style and core gameplay loop. However, it introduces a unique mechanic that sets it apart. Expected to launch on PC in early 2025, Rogue Loops offers a free demo on Steam for players eager to get a taste of the action.

The game features a recurring dungeon with randomized loot and ability upgrades, viewed from a top-down perspective. This echoes the structure of Hades, but Rogue Loops adds a significant twist: ability upgrades are paired with distinct downsides. These "curses," unlike the temporary effects of Hades' Chaos Gates, can significantly impact gameplay, potentially lasting the entire playthrough.

The narrative centers around a family trapped in a deadly time loop. Players navigate five floors of dungeons, battling unique enemies and bosses. Each run unlocks procedurally generated upgrades, enabling players to craft diverse builds using both beneficial and detrimental effects.

While a precise release date is yet to be announced, the Steam page lists a Q1 2025 release. Until then, a free demo offering access to the first floor is available. Fans of the genre can also explore similar titles like Dead Cells and Hades 2 while they wait.
