Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently addressed the company's staggered platform release strategy, particularly concerning the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. Zelnick confirmed that delaying the PC release of GTA 6 will result in a significant revenue shortfall—approximately 40% of typical PC sales—but emphasized the company's commitment to its established release model.
This approach mirrors previous GTA titles, where PC releases were intentionally delayed, partly due to Rockstar's complex history with the modding community. The decision is unrelated to the current sales performance of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. GTA 6's release strategy will not deviate from this precedent.
Projecting a fall 2025 launch for GTA 6, PC gamers can realistically expect a 2026 release. The game's launch is highly anticipated, not only by Take-Two Interactive, but by the entire gaming industry. The initial teaser trailer shattered several YouTube records, fueling speculation that GTA 6 could surpass the $100 million sales mark, potentially setting a new benchmark and positively influencing other game developers and publishers.
