God of War Ragnarok Marks 20th Anniversary with Dark Odyssey Cosmetic Update Next Week

Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have exciting news for God of War fans with the announcement of the Dark Odyssey collection, a thrilling update coming to God of War Ragnarök next week. This update is themed around one of the franchise's most iconic outfits and will be available to all players on PlayStation 5 and PC.

In a detailed PlayStation.Blog post, Sony unveiled their comprehensive plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the God of War series, with the Dark Odyssey collection stealing the spotlight. Scheduled to roll out as a free update on March 20, this collection promises a sleek, black-and-gold aesthetic that will enhance the visual appeal of Kratos, Atreus, and Freya as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology. Alongside Kratos, both Atreus and Freya will receive their own unique cosmetic sets, with a variety of shields and weapons also getting the Dark Odyssey treatment.

The centerpiece of the Dark Odyssey update is undoubtedly the exclusive armor set and appearance for Kratos, reminiscent of a legendary skin from God of War 2 that was previously only attainable by defeating the game on God Mode difficulty. Players can access this coveted content by opening any Lost Items chest in the base game or directly in the roguelike Valhalla mode post-update. Additionally, this update introduces the much-anticipated feature to customize Kratos’ weapons' appearances without affecting their abilities.
