ROME: Total War enthusiasts on Android have a treat coming their way with the newly released Imperium Update by Feral Interactive. This massive free update introduces a host of gameplay tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life enhancements to enrich your gaming experience. If you've been enjoying this classic strategy game since its arrival on Android in 2018, you're in for a delightful upgrade. Additionally, fans of the standalone expansions Barbarian Invasion and Alexander can look forward to receiving similar updates next week.
The Imperium Update draws inspiration from some of the finest features found in Feral's more recent mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. Players can now enjoy three new control options in ROME: Total War: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These additions offer enhanced control over your units, making battles more precise and engaging. A simple tap and hold now allows you to move your armies, agents, or fleets, eliminating the need for manual path dragging.
Positioning Mode enables you to fine-tune the placement of your units with just a tap and hold. Meanwhile, the Group Grid feature simplifies the management of unit groups with a collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode is particularly useful, as it allows ranged units to seamlessly switch to close combat when the situation demands it.
One of the standout features of this update is Command Slowdown, which automatically reduces the game's speed when issuing complex orders, ensuring you have the time needed to strategize effectively. Additionally, for the first time, keyboard and mouse support has been introduced for Android (and iPad) players, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
The minimap in ROME: Total War has been revamped to resemble the one in MEDIEVAL II, complete with smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button also allows you to quickly revert to the default view, adding to the convenience of gameplay.
The Imperium Update is now live and available for download on the Google Play Store for those who own ROME: Total War on Android. Make sure to grab it to experience these exciting enhancements. Keep an eye out for the updates coming next week for Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, and don't miss out on the chance to elevate your gaming experience with these expansions as well.
