This review is based on a screening at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. The film, while visually stunning, ultimately falls short of its ambitious premise. The cinematography is breathtaking, capturing the stark beauty of the Icelandic landscape with an almost ethereal quality. However, the narrative, while intriguing at first, becomes muddled and loses its way in the second act. The pacing feels uneven, with moments of captivating tension followed by stretches of slow, meandering scenes that fail to advance the plot. The performances are generally strong, but the characters themselves lack depth and remain somewhat underdeveloped, hindering emotional connection with the audience. While the film's visual artistry is undeniable, its narrative weaknesses prevent it from achieving its full potential. It's a visually impressive film that ultimately leaves you wanting more in terms of story and character development.
