Rome has just unveiled the country's largest game museum, and it's a must-visit for gaming enthusiasts! Named GAMM, the Game Museum, it opened its doors to the public and is situated in the heart of Rome at Piazza della Repubblica. This visionary project comes from Marco Accordi Rickards, a multifaceted individual who is a writer, journalist, professor, and the CEO of Vigamus. Marco's passion for video game culture shines through as he describes GAMM as a journey that intertwines history, technology, and gameplay exploration. This new museum builds on the legacy of Vigamus, which has welcomed over two million visitors since its opening in 2012.

Spanning 700 square meters over two levels, GAMM is segmented into three immersive thematic areas. Before diving into the details, take a moment to catch a glimpse of what awaits you at the museum!

Here’s What You’ll See in GAMM, the Game Museum

First up is the GAMMDOME, a digital playground that combines interactive stations with tangible artifacts from gaming history. This includes consoles, donations, and other memorabilia, all curated around the 4 E Concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.

Next, the Path of Arcadia, or PARC, transports you back to the golden era of coin-operated games. Here, you can relive the classics from the late '70s through the '80s, with a touch of early '90s nostalgia.

Finally, the Historical Playground, known as HIP, delves into the intricacies of gameplay. It offers a deep dive into the structure of games, their interaction mechanics, and design rules, providing what feels like a backstage pass to the history of gaming.

GAMM is open from Monday to Thursday between 9:30 AM and 7:30 PM, extending its hours to 11:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are available for 15 euros, and you can find more information on the official website of GAMM, the Game Museum.
