"Elden Ring Nightreign Ditches Poisonous Swamps"

by Lucas Apr 01,2025

In the highly anticipated cooperative action game, *Elden Ring Nightreign*, fans of From Software's signature poisonous swamps will be disappointed to learn that these iconic areas will not be making an appearance. This revelation came directly from the project's product manager, Yasuhiro Kitao, during a recent discussion with journalists. Although a similar-looking location was showcased in the game's trailer, Kitao clarified that it represents an entirely different setting.

The absence of poisonous swamps in *Elden Ring Nightreign* can be attributed to the lack of involvement from Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of From Software. Miyazaki, renowned for his affinity for swamp environments, has been the driving force behind their inclusion in both *Elden Ring* and the *Dark Souls* series. However, he did not participate in the development of *Elden Ring Nightreign*.

On a brighter note, there's a glimmer of hope for fans of cooperative play. While *Elden Ring Nightreign* has been announced with one-player and three-player modes, the developers are currently contemplating the addition of a two-player mode. Initially, this mode was left out due to challenges in content balancing. However, From Software is actively considering its inclusion, though no final decision has been made yet.

Mark your calendars, as *Elden Ring Nightreign* is set to launch on May 30, 2025, and will be available on PC and two generations of consoles. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches.
