Get a Dell or Alienware GeForce RTX 4090 Prebuilt Gaming PC for as Low as $2,850

by Benjamin Apr 24,2025

The GeForce RTX 4090, though a generation older than the new Blackwell 50 series GPUs, remains a powerhouse in the world of graphics cards. It surpasses the performance of the RTX 5080, RTX 4080 Super, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. Only the RTX 5090 outperforms it, but securing one without a significant price markup can be a challenge.

With the RTX 4090 now discontinued, finding one has become increasingly difficult. Thankfully, Dell offers two prebuilt gaming PC models featuring this formidable GPU at competitive prices. The Alienware Aurora R16 starts at $3,299.99, while the Dell Tower Plus is available from $2,849.99. These represent some of the best deals currently available for an RTX 4090-equipped system, especially since other manufacturers like Lenovo and HP have phased out their RTX 4090 prebuilt offerings.

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC comes equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The processor can be upgraded to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, though for gaming, the default Intel Core Ultra 7 265F, with its 5.3GHz max turbo frequency and 20 cores, is more than sufficient. The system is cooled by a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The Dell Tower Plus may have a modest exterior, but it's packed with powerful internals. It features an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. Upgrading the processor to the Intel Core Ultra 7 285K for an additional $100 is recommended, as it not only provides better performance but also upgrades the cooling system to an advanced air cooling setup rated for 125W TDP. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

How does the RTX 4090 stack up against current cards?

The RTX 4090 stands as the pinnacle of the RTX 40 series GPUs. Only the RTX 5090, with its $2,000 MSRP, surpasses it in performance. The RTX 4090 can effortlessly run games at 4K resolution, delivering over 60fps with max settings and ray tracing enabled, especially when DLSS is in use. The only setting that poses a challenge for the RTX 4090, as well as other GPUs, is path tracing, which is typically only used in benchmarks or for showcasing on social media. For most gamers, the RTX 4090's performance is more than adequate, making the RTX 5090's additional power less necessary.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU Review by Chris Coke

"The RTX 4090 may be large and pricey, but it truly dominates the competition. As the sole card from this new generation currently available, it's only fair to compare it to cards from previous years. Until the competition catches up, the RTX 4090's impressive hardware and DLSS 3 AI capabilities justify its $1,599 price tag with the unparalleled frame rates it delivers."
