Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is developing The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world vampire RPG aiming for the quality of The Witcher 3, albeit on a smaller scale. This article delves into the upcoming title and the developers' vision.
In an interview with GamesRadar, Creative Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified the studio's ambition. Despite being a smaller team launching their first game, they're targeting AAA quality, citing The Witcher 3 as their benchmark. While acknowledging the game's smaller scope compared to established AAA titles, Tomaszkiewicz emphasized a commitment to robust quality. The anticipated playtime for the main campaign is 30-40 hours. He challenged the notion that playtime alone defines AAA status, pointing out shorter AAA games like Call of Duty.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in Vale Sangora. Players assume the role of Coen, a young peasant granted vampiric powers, embarking on a quest to save his sister while navigating the dangers of this mystical land.
Currently, there's no confirmed release date, but the game is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a gameplay reveal expected in Summer 2025.
