Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, envisions a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film starring himself and Keanu Reeves. This exciting prospect was revealed in a recent interview with ScreenRant.
Elba believes a live-action adaptation, featuring his character Solomon Reed alongside Reeves' iconic Johnny Silverhand, would be phenomenal. He expressed his enthusiasm for the potential reunion, stating the collaboration would be "Whoa."
This isn't merely wishful thinking. Variety reported in October 2023 that a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project is underway, with CD Projekt Red partnering with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the live-action Witcher series suggests a Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation is highly plausible.
Beyond the live-action possibility, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched, focusing on Rebecca and Pilar's backstory. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also planned for 2025, and a new animated series is in development. The Cyberpunk franchise shows no signs of slowing down.
