Baldur's Gate III's Latest Patch Now in Stress Test Phase

The stress test for what could be the eighth and final major patch of *Baldur's Gate III* has kicked off. Earlier, a select group of Sony console players got a sneak peek at the patch, but if you're not up for testing, the developers suggest a fresh install of the game to ensure a smooth experience.

Patch 8 brings a host of exciting updates, with crossplay being a standout feature. Now, players across consoles and PCs can join forces, seamlessly connecting with friends on different platforms as long as they're linked with a Larian account. In a unique twist, even modded gameplay is cross-platform friendly, but there are a couple of caveats: all mods used by PC players must be accessible on Mac and consoles, and the host's lobby should not feature more than a double-digit number of mods.

In the realm of multiplayer, a much-anticipated feature is under scrutiny: split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S. This marks a significant upgrade for the console, which previously couldn't support split-screen play, much to the delight of its user base.

Patch 8 isn't just about connectivity; it also introduces a photo mode brimming with customization options, alongside 12 new subclasses that add depth and diversity to your gameplay experience. Larian Studios has also tackled numerous bugs and rebalanced various elements, although a few issues persist. For a comprehensive rundown of the changes tested during this stress test, head over to the game's official page.
