"Avatar: Seven Havens Announced, Post-Legend of Korra"

by Audrey May 19,2025

Exciting news for fans of the beloved *Avatar: The Last Airbender* universe—Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a new series titled *Avatar: Seven Havens*. This announcement comes as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the original series, spearheaded by the show's creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. *Avatar: Seven Havens* will be a 26-episode, 2D animated series that promises to take viewers on a thrilling new journey.

Set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm, *Avatar: Seven Havens* follows the story of a young Earthbender who discovers she is the next Avatar after Korra. However, in this dangerous new era, being the Avatar marks her as a destroyer rather than a savior. As she is hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she must join forces with her long-lost twin to uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens—the last strongholds of civilization before they collapse.

DiMartino and Konietzko expressed their excitement about expanding the Avatar universe, stating, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters." The series will be split into two seasons, with a 13-episode Book 1 and a 13-episode Book 2, and will be co-created by DiMartino and Konietzko along with executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast has not yet been announced, anticipation is high for what this new series will bring to the beloved franchise.

This new series is the first mainline TV project from Avatar Studios, which is also working on a full-length animated movie centered around an adult Aang, set to premiere in theaters on January 30, 2026. In addition to *Avatar: Seven Havens* and the upcoming movie, Avatar Studios is celebrating the 20th anniversary with a range of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and a game in Roblox, ensuring that fans have plenty of ways to engage with the Avatar universe.
