The SteelSeries Arctis Pro was the pinnacle of gaming headsets until it was succeeded by the Arctis Nova Pro. It stands out with its separate standalone base station featuring a volume knob and OLED display, as well as the ability to pair simultaneously via Bluetooth and 2.4GHz WiFi. The highlight, however, is the **hot-swappable battery system**, ensuring continuous wireless play without downtime. SteelSeries provides two batteries: one in use and one charging in the base station.
The Arctis Pro's build quality is top-notch, with a lightweight steel and aluminum alloy headband and a comfortable suspension headstrap perfect for long gaming sessions. The ear cushions use AirWeave performance fabric, similar to those on the Arctis Nova Pro, and the ClearCast boom microphone can be retracted when not in use. The audio quality is exceptional, powered by premium 40mm speaker drivers with high-density neodymium magnets, capable of reproducing hi-res audio up to 40,000Hz.
"The SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless boasts premium build quality, a comfortable design, and outstanding sound. The clever battery-swapping design means you'll never be without power. While its sound is excellent, the Arctis Pro + GameDAC offers better performance for $70 less, though it's wired. Alternatively, the wireless Arctis 7 is available for less than half the price."
The Arctis Pro was succeeded by the Arctis Nova Pro in 2022. The best current price for a new pair of Nova Pros is $270 on Amazon. While the Nova Pro is an excellent headset with upgrades like active noise cancellation and USB Type-C charging, it's not worth nearly double the cost of the Arctis Pro.
