Fans of the critically acclaimed *The Last of Us* series were still reeling from Neil Druckmann's recent ambiguous statement about the future of the franchise when a glimmer of hope emerged. Insider Daniel Richtman has stirred excitement by claiming that the next installment in the series is not only in the works but has already begun casting actors, with some scenes reportedly filmed.

Given Druckmann's earlier comments, which suggested there might not be a new *The Last of Us* game, Richtman's rumors could hold some truth. When Druckmann mentioned "no next The Last of Us", he might have been referring to a sequel already in development. Additionally, Druckmann has made similar ambiguous statements before the announcement of *The Last of Us Part II*. However, it's important to note that Richtman has a history of leaks that have not always been accurate.
Despite the uncertainty, it is confirmed that at least a concept for the new installment exists. As for any official announcements or further news, Naughty Dog might be holding back to avoid diverting attention from their upcoming new intellectual property, *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*.
