This guide explores the revamped PlayStation Plus service and its horror game offerings. Sony's 2022 overhaul introduced three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. While Essential is required for online play and offers monthly freebies, horror enthusiasts will find a richer selection in the Extra and Premium tiers.
The Extra tier boasts a library of hundreds of PS5 and PS4 games, regularly updated with around 15 new titles monthly. Premium expands this library further, adding classic PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP games. This extensive catalog ensures diverse genre representation, including a strong horror selection.
Updated January 5, 2025 by Mark Sammut: The December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium additions lacked horror titles. Note that Resident Evil 2 will depart the service on January 21, 2025, diminishing the horror game options. However, Resident Evil 3 remains available. This update includes a new section highlighting alternative PS Plus games that might appeal to horror fans.
