Dans Dynasty Warriors: Origins, vous jouez principalement en tant que Wanderer, efforçant la paix. Votre voyage présente de nombreux choix d'histoire, souvent avec des compagnons rejoignant la mêlée.

La commutation de caractère n'est possible que pendant les batailles où un compagnon est présent. Avant une bataille, la sélection compagnante est la dernière option dans le menu avant la bataille. Vous pouvez choisir de vous battre seul, mais la commutation compagnon n'est pas une option ici. Une fois la bataille commence, la barre de santé de votre compagnon apparaît en dessous du vôtre dans le coin inférieur droit.

La commutation déclenche une attaque puissante; viser attentivement. Le compagnon maintient également leurs propres musou et jauges de santé, permettant une utilisation immédiate de leur attaque spéciale.
