A fresh perspective on the iconic Kazuma Kiryu is promised. The teaser, showcased at San Diego Comic-Con, introduced Ryoma Takeuchi as Kiryu and Kento Kaku as Akira Nishikiyama. Director Yokoyama highlighted the actors' unique interpretations, stating that their portrayals differ significantly from the game, yet that's precisely what makes the adaptation compelling. He praised the actors' ability to create fresh takes on established characters while remaining true to the spirit of the original.
The teaser offered fleeting glimpses of key locations, including the iconic Coliseum in Underground Purgatory and a pivotal confrontation between Kiryu and Futoshi Shimano. The description promises a portrayal of "fierce yet passionate gangsters and the inhabitants of Kamurochō," a fictional district inspired by Tokyo's Kabukichō. The series will follow Kiryu and his childhood friends, exploring aspects of Kiryu's life previously unseen in the games.
