Vikings Clash in New Turn-Based Strategy

Arctic Hazard unveils Norse, a captivating new strategy game reminiscent of XCOM, but steeped in the historical richness of Viking-era Norway. To craft a compelling narrative within this meticulously researched world, the developers have partnered with award-winning author Giles Kristian, whose acclaimed Viking-themed novels have sold over a million copies.

The gaming landscape is saturated with medieval fantasy settings. While titles like Manor Lords and Medieval Dynasty offer medieval European experiences with survival elements, and Imperator: Rome lets players command Roman legions, Vikings consistently hold a prominent place in gaming. Norse distinguishes itself by focusing on a narrative-driven experience, unlike the more open-ended survival game Valheim.

Norse: A Turn-Based Viking Strategy Game

This turn-based strategy game casts players as Gunnar, a young warrior driven by revenge against Steinarr Far-Spear, the murderer of his father and fellow countrymen. Gunnar's journey involves building a settlement, forging alliances, and assembling a formidable Viking army.

Arctic Hazard's commitment to historical accuracy and engaging storytelling is evident in their collaboration with Giles Kristian. The game's trailer showcases a visually stunning recreation of Norway, promising an authentic Viking experience.

Further gameplay details are available on Arctic Hazard's official website. Players will manage a village, overseeing resource production and the upgrade of Viking weaponry. Unit customization is a key feature, with distinct classes such as the damage-dealing Berserker and the ranged Bogmathr archer.

Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Norse is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Fans can add Norse to their Steam wishlists, though a release date remains unannounced.
