Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of Helldivers 2 (released a year ago), is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan input.
Community suggestions ranged from a Smash TV remake to Star Fox-inspired titles. Pilestedt confirmed that a Smash TV remake has been internally discussed, and also mentioned exploring a Star Fox-esque concept within the "rail game" genre.
While specifics remain undisclosed, Arrowhead's engagement with the community is evident. The remarkable success of Helldivers 2, a standout title of 2024, sets a high benchmark for their next endeavor.
Helldivers 2 recently received a substantial update, boosting player numbers significantly on PS5. The "Omens of Tyranny" expansion, surprise-released at the 2024 Game Awards, has been well-received. This update introduced the highly anticipated Illuminate enemy faction, a 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps. With a rumored Killzone crossover also in the pipeline, Helldivers 2 appears poised for continued success in 2025.
