Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with the game generating $43 million in royalties. The company's 2024 financial report shows a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million, a significant portion driven by Stellar Blade's success. Further growth is anticipated, with Shift Up predicting PC sales to surpass those of the PlayStation 5 version, particularly in the Asian market.
While a Stellar Blade sequel remains under consideration, Shift Up plans to unveil its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. Project Witches was initially revealed in 2024, shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, pre-empting significant momentum for a direct sequel.
Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, puts players in the role of Eve as she fights to reclaim Earth from unknown invaders. The game achieved a 7/10 rating from IGN and sold over a million copies, despite criticism regarding its characters, storyline, and some RPG mechanics. IGN's review noted that while the core action gameplay was strong, weak character development and a less-than-stellar narrative held the game back from reaching its full potential.
