The viral Skibidi Toilet phenomenon recently caused a bizarre DMCA kerfuffle involving the popular sandbox game Garry's Mod. However, the situation appears to be resolved, according to game developer Garry Newman.
The Mystery DMCA Sender
While the specifics remain undisclosed, Garry Newman confirmed to IGN that a DMCA notice was received late last year from individuals associated with the Skibidi Toilet copyright holders. The identity of the sender—whether DaFuqBoom or Invisible Narratives—is still unconfirmed. Newman's initial reaction, expressed on a Discord server, was "Can you believe the cheek?" The ensuing drama quickly went viral.
The DMCA targeted user-created Garry's Mod content featuring Skibidi Toilet characters like Titan Cameraman, Titan Speakerman, and Titan TV Man. The sender claimed these characters were copyrighted and that the unauthorized Garry's Mod games generated substantial revenue. Newman has since confirmed the matter is resolved, although the identity of the party issuing the DMCA remains a secret.
