EA's The Simpsons: Tapped Out, a long-running mobile city-builder, is nearing its end. After a twelve-year run, the game will be sunsetting in early 2025.
The Shutdown Timeline:
In-app purchases are already unavailable. The game will be removed from app stores on October 31st, 2024. However, existing players can continue enjoying Springfield until January 24th, 2025, when the servers will be permanently shut down. EA expressed gratitude to its players for their support over the past decade.
One Last Chance to Experience Springfield?
If you've yet to experience the game, here's a brief overview. Players rebuild Springfield after Homer's accidental nuclear meltdown, managing iconic characters and expanding the town to include Springfield Heights and even the Kwik-E-Mart. The freemium game frequently incorporated Simpsons storylines and real-world events into its updates. Donuts serve as the in-game currency to accelerate progress.
