Silent Hill Transmission March 2025: Everything Announced and Revealed for Silent Hill f

by Lucas Mar 22,2025

Konami's latest Silent Hill Transmission unveiled Silent Hill f, a chilling new entry in the beloved horror franchise, transporting players to 1960s Japan.

First announced in 2022 as a game set in a "beautiful, therefore terrifying" world, Silent Hill f is penned by Ryukishi07, the acclaimed writer behind Higurashi and Umineko. This latest reveal offers a deeper look into the game's unsettling atmosphere.

Silent Hill f: Finding Beauty in Terror

PlayKonami's new trailer and details highlight the game's core concept: "finding the beauty in terror" and presenting players with a crucial, terrifying choice within the stunning yet horrifying backdrop of 1960s Japan.

The narrative centers on Shimizu Hinkao, an ordinary teenager whose life takes a dark turn when her town is enveloped in fog and undergoes a horrific transformation. Hinkao must navigate this unrecognizable landscape, solving puzzles, battling strange enemies, and ultimately confronting a life-altering decision. The official description paints a picture of a "beautiful yet terrifying choice," promising a compelling narrative experience.

This original story offers a welcoming entry point for newcomers, while seasoned fans can anticipate hidden Easter eggs throughout the game. The setting is the fictional Japanese town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by the real-life Kanayama, Gero, in Gifu Prefecture.

A Unique Vision of Horror

PlayCreature and character designer kera shared their creative process, emphasizing the challenge of crafting a new vision of Silent Hill horror while honoring the series' legacy: "I love the Silent Hill series... When it came to *Silent Hill f*, and bringing the setting to Japan, we had to come up with something that felt just a little different… The monster designs were the hardest. I had to consider everything that's come in Silent Hill before, and figure out how to take this game in a different direction, but still be Silent Hill."

A Symphony of Sound

The soundscape will be integral to the experience, with Akira Yamaoka (long-time Silent Hill composer) and Kensuke Inage (Dynasty Warriors series) composing music for the Fog World and Otherworld, respectively. Inage describes his work as weaving "ancient Japanese court music with ambient echoes," aiming to connect the player to Hinkao's emotional journey.

While a release date remains unannounced, Silent Hill f is confirmed for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
