Hashino, when discussing future projects, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.
Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino confirmed there are no current plans for a sequel. While the game was initially conceived as a potential third major JRPG franchise alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, the focus remains on completing the current title. He aims for Metaphor: ReFantazio to become a flagship Atlus project.
Although a direct sequel is unlikely, the team is already working on their next venture. However, an anime adaptation is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio has achieved significant success, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 85,961 – surpassing Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
