Pokemon GO Unova Tour: Black and White Kyurem and Shiny Meloetta Debut!
Get ready, trainers! Black and White Kyurem are finally arriving in Pokémon GO, alongside the first-ever appearance of Shiny Meloetta, as part of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova. This guide details how to capture and fuse these legendary Pokémon.
New Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO
Following December 2024's announcement of the February 2025 Unova Tour, Niantic has revealed exciting new details. The event marks the debut of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta.
From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees of the in-person events in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, can catch and fuse Kyurem into its powerful Black and White forms. To begin, trainers must defeat Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids to obtain the base Kyurem form.
Once you've caught Kyurem, the fusion process begins! Choose your path: fuse with Zekrom for Black Kyurem, or Reshiram for White Kyurem. Fusion unlocks exclusive attacks: Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) and Ice Burn (White Kyurem). Here's the breakdown:
Earn Fusion Energy by conquering Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversing the fusion back to base Kyurem requires no resources. Plus, Shiny Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom have increased encounter rates during the event!
Can't make the in-person events? Don't worry! The Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global event runs March 1st-2nd, 2025, and is free for all players.
Adding to the excitement, Shiny Meloetta makes its Pokémon GO debut! In-person event ticket holders can complete a Masterwork Research task to encounter this melodious Pokémon. Don't worry about time constraints; the Masterwork Research won't expire.

Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon games set in the Unova region. The first three are acquired during the main story, while Meloetta is a post-game reward. Pokémon Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, each with their signature Ice Burn and Freeze Shock attacks, mirroring their Pokémon GO counterparts.
With the Tao Trio's alternate forms available for a limited time in February and globally in March, trainers can fully experience the magic of Unova in Pokémon GO!
