Pokémon Sleep's development is transitioning from Select Button to Pokémon Works. This change in management was recently announced.
The Pokémon Company's newly formed subsidiary, Pokémon Works, will assume responsibility for Pokémon Sleep's ongoing development and updates. This shift from Select Button, the original developer, was revealed via an in-app notice on the Japanese version of the game.
The announcement stated that development and operation of Pokémon Sleep were previously shared between Select Button and The Pokémon Company. The global version of the app hasn't yet reflected this news.
Pokémon Works, a joint venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd., is relatively new. Their representative director, Takuya Iwasaki, highlighted their commitment to creating more immersive Pokémon experiences. The company's Tokyo location is reportedly near ILCA, known for its work on Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and Pokémon HOME, a project to which Pokémon Works also contributed.
While their past Pokémon involvement is limited, Pokémon Works aims to enhance the connection between players and Pokémon. How this vision will be applied to Pokémon Sleep remains to be seen.
