Exciting news for fans of monster-catching games: Krafton, the powerhouse behind PUBG, is collaborating with Pocket Pair to bring the wildly popular Palworld to mobile devices. PUBG Studios, a Krafton subsidiary, will be at the helm of this project, adapting Palworld's core gameplay for a seamless mobile experience. This move not only expands the Palworld IP but also promises to bring the thrill of this unique game to a broader audience.
While specific details about the mobile version of Palworld remain under wraps, the game has already made significant waves. Launched on Xbox and Steam in January, it quickly became a sensation, and has recently expanded to PlayStation 5, though not yet available in Japan. The global launch of the PS5 version, excluding Japan, might be influenced by ongoing legal issues with Nintendo, who have accused Pocket Pair of patent infringement related to the mechanics of throwing Pokéballs. Pocket Pair, however, claims they are unaware of any specific patents they might have violated.
Given the complexities of expanding Palworld to mobile while still developing the existing game, Pocket Pair's decision to partner with Krafton is a strategic one. Krafton's expertise in mobile gaming, demonstrated through their success with PUBG, positions them perfectly to navigate the challenges of this project. However, fans should temper their excitement as the mobile version is likely still in its early stages.
We eagerly await more details from Krafton and Pocket Pair about the Palworld mobile version. Will it be a direct port, or will it feature unique elements tailored for mobile gamers? In the meantime, you can explore the game's features and gameplay on its official Steam page.
