Nishino Becomes Sole CEO of Sony Interactive, Totoki Advances to Sony CEO

by Layla Mar 29,2025

Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), with his new role taking effect on April 1, 2025. This significant announcement was made through a press release this evening, highlighting a series of leadership changes within Sony's corporate structure.

In a related development, Sony's CFO, Hiroki Totoki, will step into the role of president and CEO of the entire Sony corporation. He succeeds Kenichiro Yoshida, who has been at the helm since April 2018, following Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, currently the Senior Vice President of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy, will assume the position of CFO.

Last year, it was announced that Nishino and Hermen Hulst would jointly lead SIE following the retirement of former CEO Jim Ryan. Under this arrangement, Hulst was appointed as head of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino was tasked with overseeing hardware and technology. With the latest change, Nishino now assumes full responsibility for SIE's operations and will continue to lead the platform business group. Meanwhile, Hulst will maintain his focus on PlayStation Studios.

Nishino, who has been with Sony since 2000, previously held the position of Senior Vice President of the Platform Experience Group.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
