In today's saturated gaming market, finding a truly unique experience can be a challenge. But My Father Lied, a mystery/Lovecraftian puzzle adventure, stands out with its compelling narrative.
My Father Lied: An Indie Developer's Vision
The game's creation story is as fascinating as the game itself. Ahmed Alameen, the developer, wasn't initially aiming for a career in game development. In 2020, he was making a name for himself as a writer and filmmaker. A collaborative game project with a college friend fizzled, but the story remained, compelling Alameen to teach himself 3D modeling and Unreal Engine to bring his vision to life. Even the game's title was a collaborative effort with his wife.
Unraveling the Mystery
My Father Lied plunges players into a captivating mystery steeped in ancient Mesopotamian myths, secrets, puzzles, and unexpected twists. Players step into the shoes of Huda, a young woman grappling with a twenty-year-old question: what happened to her father? The answer, as the story unfolds, is far from straightforward.
Drawing inspiration from 7,000 years of Mesopotamian culture, the game blends ancient lore with modern storytelling. The gameplay is intuitive, featuring simple point-and-click mechanics, stunning 2D visuals, and immersive 360-degree images.
