Marvel Rivals: A Deep Dive into Mister Fantastic's Abilities and Gameplay
Marvel Rivals delivers an exceptional hero-shooter experience, boasting diverse gameplay and stunning visuals. The game's ongoing development introduces new characters, expanding its roster. Season 1 introduces iconic Fantastic Four heroes, including Mister Fantastic, a formidable duelist.
Mister Fantastic's dualist role necessitates speed and significant damage contribution. His unique ability to grapple and pull himself towards allies or enemies is key to his effectiveness. His introduction significantly impacts the game's meta, altering strategic approaches across various maps.
Effective duelists require a powerful primary attack. Mister Fantastic's "Stretch Punch," a three-hit combo (two single-fist strikes followed by a two-handed strike), is surprisingly versatile. The stretched arm continues to inflict damage on enemies even after the initial punch, creating area-of-effect damage potential, similar to Storm's Wind Blade.
Mister Fantastic possesses several activatable abilities (explore them in the training room!), each contributing to his damage-boosting passive. A fully charged passive significantly enhances his offensive capabilities. Key stats to monitor include his health and Elasticity.
He starts with 350 health but utilizes shields for enhanced survivability. Elasticity (displayed beneath the crosshair) increases with each basic attack (+5 Elasticity per attack), reaching 100 for maximum passive effect. He has a 3-star difficulty rating, challenging beginners but manageable for experienced players.
Transforms Mister Fantastic into a rectangular shape, absorbing incoming damage. Upon expiration, he unleashes stored damage in the direction of the player's reticle.
Grants a shield, boosting health from 350 to 425. Pulls Mister Fantastic towards the target, dealing damage to enemies or providing a shield to allies. Offers tactical flexibility: damage to weakened enemies or support for allies. Two charges allow for strategic use.
Allows Mister Fantastic to grapple a target, offering three options: Dash (pulls him towards the target without a shield), Impact (deals damage to the grappled enemy), and a secondary grapple (grappling a second nearby enemy and slamming them together).
Heals Mister Fantastic for lost health (no shield granted). Synergizes well with Invisible Woman, a Strategist character.
Builds Elasticity with each ability use, increasing damage output. Reaching maximum Elasticity triggers a Hulk-like transformation, significantly boosting damage and providing a substantial shield (which decays over time). Damage inactivity causes Elasticity decay.
Mister Fantastic leaps and repeatedly crashes down in a marked area, dealing area-of-effect damage. Highly effective against clustered enemies.
Mister Fantastic's damage mitigation and shield generation contribute to his tankiness.
Combining Flexible Elongation and Reflexive Rubber provides shields for both Mister Fantastic and an ally, allowing for immediate threat mitigation and subsequent damage release.
Using Reflexive Rubber strategically, even without needing to rapidly build the passive, maximizes his inflated state's damage and objective presence. Shield stacking (e.g., after two Flexible Elongations) can potentially increase his health pool to 950.
