Metaphor: ReFantazio Update 1.11 streamlines navigation across all platforms with new menu options. This minor patch also includes PC-specific bug fixes. While a sequel isn't currently planned, the director expresses hope for future development.
Atlus has released a new patch for Metaphor: ReFantazio, enhancing menu navigation and resolving bugs for all console and PC players. Released in October 2024, Metaphor: ReFantazio continues its impressive sales and critical acclaim, solidifying its position as a leading RPG.
Initially announced in 2016 as Project Re:Fantasy, Metaphor: ReFantazio achieved a record-breaking one million global sales on its launch day, marking Atlus's most successful debut. The game, following a young boy's quest to become King of Euchronia, has garnered widespread commercial and critical success, earning numerous Game of the Year awards and a perfect 100 score on OpenCritic. Development continues with the release of a new update across all platforms.
Version 1.11 introduces improved menu navigation, allowing players to adjust battle formations and swap party members from both the main menu and the equip screen. A new function enables quick navigation to specific item locations. The update also includes several PC-specific bug fixes addressing camera movement, frame rate issues, and controller input problems. Atlus's commitment to enhancing the player experience is evident in these ongoing refinements.
The game's exceptional reception has sparked discussions about a potential sequel. Director Katsura Hashino, while confirming no concrete plans currently exist, expressed his ambition to establish Metaphor: ReFantazio as a major JRPG franchise alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei.
Although a sequel remains unannounced, anticipation is high for future news from Atlus. With 2025 marking the ninth anniversary of Persona 5, speculation around Persona 6 is intensifying. Metaphor: ReFantazio's success positions Atlus for continued momentum, leading many fans to believe a new entry in the Persona series would be a strategic move.
