The excitement is building for the upcoming update in *Marvel Rivals*, and with it comes some uncertainty about a potential rank reset. Players are eager to maintain their hard-earned ranks, but changes are inevitable in live-service games. So, will there be a rank reset in *Marvel Rivals* for Season 1?
At the start of each season in most live-service games, the Ranked mode standings are reset to give everyone a fresh start. This practice allows players to adapt to the latest updates and climb the ranks anew. Typically, these updates occur every few months, providing ample time for players to reach their desired ranks before a reset. However, *Marvel Rivals* developer NetEase Games often deviates from the norm.
Originally, NetEase announced that a rank reset would occur with the mid-season update for Season 1 on February 21, 2025. This decision was influenced by the addition of two new heroes, The Thing and Human Torch, which could shift the game's meta. However, the community's response was overwhelmingly negative, prompting NetEase to reconsider.
In a blog post, the *Marvel Rivals* team stated, "After the release of Dev Talk 10 regarding the seasonal rank adjustment, we received a wealth of feedback from the community. A common concern was the pressure associated with having a rank reset every half-season, which has made participating in competitive mode less enjoyable. In light of the community’s input, we have decided to make some changes to optimize the rank system."
The post continued, "When the second half of the season begins, there will be no rank reset. Players will retain their ranks and scores from the end of the first half. To earn new rewards, players simply need to complete 10 matches in Competitive mode and meet the relevant conditions by the end of the season. Rewards will include a new Gold rank costume and a variety of Crests of Honor, featuring distinct designs for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All."
This decision is a relief for players in the top ranks, offering them additional time to compete at the highest level. It also showcases NetEase's responsiveness to player feedback, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing the gaming experience based on community input.

Alongside the decision on rank resets, *Marvel Rivals* Season 1 mid-season update will introduce The Thing and Human Torch to the roster. Additionally, there will be significant adjustments to the game, although specific details on character buffs and nerfs are yet to be revealed. Players are eagerly anticipating these changes and are ready to share their insights on which heroes need adjustments.
And that's the scoop on whether *Marvel Rivals* is doing a mid-season rank reset for Season 1. For more information, check out counters for all the heroes in this hero shooter.
