Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Composers Snag Golden Globe

Award-Winning Composers Score Naughty Dog's Intergalactic

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the musical minds behind the upcoming Naughty Dog title Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, have added another accolade to their impressive list of achievements: a Golden Globe Award. The duo received the prestigious award for Best Original Score for their work on Luca Guadagnino's film Challengers.

The recent Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet trailer showcased a preview of Reznor and Ross's composition, alongside snippets of licensed music featured in the game. Known for their extensive collaboration on Nine Inch Nails and their critically acclaimed scores for films directed by David Fincher and Pete Docter, the pair have previously won an Academy Award (for The Social Network and Soul), multiple Grammys, an Emmy, and a BAFTA. Reznor also boasts previous video game soundtrack experience, having created the music for 1996's Quake and the main theme for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Accepting the Golden Globe from presenters Elton John and Brandi Carlile, Ross described the Challengers score as "never...a safe choice, but it always felt like the right one." The contemporary, club-influenced electronic score perfectly complements the film's themes of athleticism and sensuality. Given their current creative peak, the Intergalactic soundtrack is poised to become a landmark achievement in video game music.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's Golden Globe Win Fuels Intergalactic Anticipation

While the creators of Nine Inch Nails' industrial rock might seem an unconventional choice for video game and film scoring, Reznor and Ross have consistently demonstrated their versatility. Their work ranges from the haunting soundscapes of The Social Network to the ethereal melodies of Soul, and now, the enigmatic score for Naughty Dog's space-faring adventure. With online speculation suggesting a horror element to Intergalactic, the choice of Reznor and Ross seems particularly fitting.

Their Golden Globe win further elevates the anticipation surrounding Intergalactic, a project that may represent a significant stylistic shift for Naughty Dog. Given their impeccable track record, fans can confidently expect a truly exceptional soundscape, regardless of the game's final form.
