While slaying monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is thrilling, mastering the art of trapping them is essential for gathering every part needed for forging top-tier armor. To trap these formidable creatures, you'll need Trap Tools. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to obtain and utilize Trap Tools in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
Although *Monster Hunter Wilds* doesn’t provide explicit tutorials on trapping monsters or acquiring Trap Tools, if you're familiar with previous entries in the series, the process will feel intuitive.
To secure Trap Tools, head to the Provisions Stockpiler NPC at your Base Camp. Engage with him and browse his inventory until you spot the Trap Tools, which are priced at 200 Zenny each. It's wise to stock up on these, particularly if you're planning on farming specific monsters or aiming to capture every creature in the game.
Note that Trap Tools can only be purchased at Base Camp; you won't find them scattered in the wild like other resources.
Once you've acquired your Trap Tools, it's time to employ them effectively. You can combine a Trap Tool with a Net (crafted using Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or pair it with a Thunderbug Capacitor to fashion a Shock Trap.
Both types of traps are effective, but be mindful that certain monsters are resistant to specific traps. For example, Shock Traps won’t affect Rey Dau, a lightning dragon, as it’s immune to electrical shocks. In such cases, opt for the Pitfall Trap instead.
Additionally, you can carry only one Trap item at a time, so deploy them strategically when the monster is weakened.
That's the complete guide on how to get and use Trap Tools in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed information on the game, be sure to check out resources like The Escapist.
