Freedom Wars Remastered: Weapon Types Detailed

In Freedom Wars Remastered, players have the flexibility to equip two weapons of their choice before embarking on an Operation. With six distinct weapon types at your disposal, you can craft your character to match any playstyle you desire. Each weapon type brings unique effects, especially when charged, and includes three gun and three melee options, all of which can be customized to enhance your combat strategy.

Every Weapon Type in Freedom Wars Remastered

The game features a total of six weapon types, which you can acquire by successfully completing operations or by making purchases from the Zakka store in The Warren. While you cannot select weapons for your Comrades, you have full control over your Accessory's equipment. Switching weapons, whether frequently or sticking to a favorite set, comes with no penalties or benefits, allowing you to adapt freely to different combat scenarios. Below is a detailed look at the six weapon types and their distinctive traits:

Weapon Type Traits
Light Melee
  • Quick attacks ideal for faster playstyles, perfect for targeting a single enemy.
  • Capable of severing Abductor limbs without the need for a Flare Knife.
Heavy Melee
  • Delivers wide arcing attacks with significant damage output.
  • Strategically placed attacks can impact multiple Abductor limbs, multiplying damage as if striking them multiple times.
  • Charged attacks can launch you into the air at the end of a combo.
  • Slightly reduces movement speed when equipped.
Polearm
  • Most attacks involve charging through enemies, aiding in evasion from incoming attacks.
  • Charged attacks enable you to throw the polearm, inflicting substantial damage from a safe distance.
Assault Weapons
  • Boasts a high total ammo carry capacity, making it an excellent choice for gun-focused builds.
  • Can be fired while grappled with your Thorne, allowing for better positioning or shooting from a safe distance.
Portable Artillery
  • Offers high single-shot damage but with a limited overall ammo capacity.
  • Explosive AOE shots can hit multiple limbs, increasing damage output in one go.
  • Slows down movement speed when equipped.
Autocannons
  • Features a high rate of fire with ample ammo capacity and large magazine size.
  • Individual shots may not deal high damage, but the rapid firing compensates for this.
  • Reduces movement speed when equipped.

It's worth noting that, unlike the player, your Accessory does not need to manage ammo when using gun weapons, providing an additional strategic advantage in combat.
