The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a popular Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus, much to the delight of fans. However, this comeback wasn't without its hiccup.
Originally, a special Matte Black style was offered exclusively to players using Xbox Series S|X consoles. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as permanently obtainable. The subsequent announcement of its removal, therefore, sparked significant backlash.
Some players even considered legal action, threatening a class-action lawsuit, believing the change violated established terms. Fortunately, Epic Games reversed course within 24 hours. The Matte Black style will now be available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X.
This reversal appears to be the most prudent decision. Given the festive holiday season, upsetting players with such a controversial move would have been ill-advised.
