Naoki Hamaguchi, game director, assures fans that development on the next installment is progressing well, though he requests patience for further announcements. 2024 proved a successful year for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the trilogy, garnering awards and widespread player acclaim. Building on this success, the team aims to broaden the Final Fantasy VII fanbase with unique challenges in the upcoming third game.
Hamaguchi also noted his admiration for Grand Theft Auto VI and expressed support for Rockstar Games, acknowledging the immense pressure they face following the phenomenal success of GTA V.
Specific details regarding the third Final Fantasy VII game remain scarce, but Hamaguchi confirmed smooth development progress. This is noteworthy considering the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth less than a year ago. However, he promises a truly unique player experience.
While Final Fantasy XVI's May 2024 launch sales fell short of projections, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth sales also underperformed initial forecasts, Square Enix maintains that neither title is a failure. The company remains confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its targets within the allotted 18-month timeframe. Specific sales figures for both titles have not yet been released.
