In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*'s main quest, "For Whom the Bell Tolls," you'll need to brew a Fever Tonic to help Hans. This involves a bit of alchemy and some navigating within Trosky Castle.
The Fever Tonic recipe resides in the Surgeon's Workshop, located within Trosky Castle. Accessing the workshop can be achieved through stealth or persuasion. Sneaking in is one option. Alternatively, after delivering the horseshoe during "For Whom the Bell Tolls," speak with Cook Fanka. Offer to help with her locked chest; she'll lead you to the noble's kitchen. Here, you'll find the ailing Chamberlain. Successfully completing skill checks during conversation will grant you access to the workshop. Crafting a Digestive Potion alongside the Fever Tonic further enhances your chances of gaining his trust and meeting Thomas.
If persuasion fails, steal some food, exit the kitchen, and locate another staircase leading to a different kitchen entrance guarded by a soldier. Bribe him with the stolen food, then sneak upstairs to the Surgeon's Workshop. The recipe journal is on a bookshelf.
The necessary herbs are already prepared at the surgeon's station. Follow these steps:
Don't worry about failures; ample herbs are available, including those in the room's chest.
After brewing the Fever Tonic, locate Thomas. If you gained the Chamberlain's trust, return with both the Fever Tonic and Digestive Potion. Otherwise, use the noble's kitchen to reach the chapel and find Thomas and his sister, Adele. Speak with Adele to complete the quest.
