While eagerly awaiting The Sims 5, a new Sims experience is on the horizon: The Sims Labs: Town Stories. Currently in playtesting and available in Australia, this mobile game isn't the full Sims 5 experience, but a testing ground for new gameplay mechanics and features within the broader Sims Labs project, launched by EA last August.
This new mobile simulation game, found on Google Play (though not yet globally available), requires registration through EA's website for Australian players. Initial reactions have been mixed, with some Reddit users expressing concern over the graphics and potential for microtransactions.
Town Stories blends classic Sims elements – building a neighbourhood, assisting residents, managing careers – with narrative-driven gameplay. Early footage suggests a familiar feel, hinting that this project serves as an experimental platform for future Sims titles. The gameplay involves building your ideal neighborhood, assisting residents with their personal stories, managing Sims' careers, and uncovering Plumbrook's secrets.
The game's visual style, based on available footage, appears consistent with earlier Sims titles. Given its experimental nature, EA is likely testing concepts for future iterations. Australian players can access and test the game via the Google Play Store. Stay tuned for our upcoming coverage of Shop Titans' Halloween event!
