Fans are outraged by DOOM: The Dark Ages' physical edition, as the game disc contains a mere 85 MB of data. Discover how some players obtained the game ahead of schedule and watch the official launch trailer for more details.

DOOM: The Dark Ages has sparked player anger with its physical release, as the included disc holds just 85 MB. Although the official launch is set for May 15, certain retailers shipped copies early—even before the premium edition's two-day early access period.
To their surprise, customers found they needed to download over 80 GB of additional content to play. This was confirmed by Twitter (X) user @DoesItPlay1, who shared PS5 screenshots on May 9 showing the disc's 85.01 MB file size. The game requires an online update to access the full content or even start playing.
Many feel Bethesda's handling of physical copies is disappointing, arguing that it undermines their sense of ownership. Some called the disc version a waste of resources, while others plan to wait for the digital release. Bethesda's decision has clearly backfired, forcing fans to manage a massive download at launch.

According to multiple Reddit discussions, early players have shared extensive details about the game's story, interface, weapons, and other features. Screenshots have surfaced online, with many praising the game as outstanding.
Reddit user TCXIV reported receiving the collector's edition and completing what they called an "amazing game, what a trip." They uploaded numerous images showcasing various elements, including menus, interfaces, bestiaries, demons, cutscenes, and major spoiler moments.
Here at Game8, we awarded DOOM: The Dark Ages a score of 88/100 for its brutal reinvention of the series. It swaps the aerial mobility of DOOM (2016) and Eternal for a more grounded, intense combat experience. For our full analysis, check out the article below!
