EA's lack of interest in a Dead Space 4 sequel was revealed by series creator Glen Schofield in a recent interview with Dan Allen Gaming. The interview sheds light on the reasons behind the rejection and the developers' continued hope for a future installment. EA's Current Stance on Dead Space 4
The possibility of a Dead Space 4 remains uncertain, potentially indefinitely delayed or cancelled. During the Dan Allen Gaming YouTube interview, Schofield, along with Christopher Stone and Bret Robbins, confirmed EA's rejection of their proposal for a new game.
The conversation began when Stone recounted his son's enthusiasm for the Dead Space remake, prompting a discussion about the future of the franchise. The team revealed their attempt to pitch Dead Space 4 to EA earlier this year, only to be met with immediate disinterest. Schofield explained that EA's response was brief, indicating a lack of current interest without further explanation. The developers respected EA's decision, acknowledging the publisher's focus on profitability and established release schedules. Stone highlighted the current industry climate, noting a reluctance to take risks on established franchises, especially those dormant for a considerable period.
Despite the success of the recent Dead Space remake—scoring an 89 on Metacritic and receiving "Very Positive" reviews on Steam—EA's perceived risk aversion may be the deciding factor. Schofield reiterated EA's data-driven approach to game development and release decisions.
However, the developers remain optimistic about the eventual release of Dead Space 4. Stone expressed their collective desire to revisit the project in the future, highlighting their existing ideas and eagerness to return to the franchise. Currently, the team members are working on separate projects, but their passion for a Dead Space 4 remains strong, leaving open the possibility of a future revival.
