Warner Bros. Discovery's sudden removal of several Cartoon Network and Adult Swim games has sparked widespread fan outrage. Without explanation, titles including Steven Universe: Save the Light and Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time have been delisted from digital platforms like Steam and the Nintendo eShop. This leaves fans unable to legally purchase these beloved games.
At least six games were affected by this digital purge, all bearing messages indicating publisher removal with no provided reason. This action is linked to Warner Bros. Discovery's cost-cutting measures, which have previously impacted films and television shows. A similar delisting event occurred in March 2024, affecting Adult Swim titles like Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality. While some games were spared then due to public backlash, others, including those recently removed, received no such reprieve.
As reported by Wario64 on Twitter, the December 23rd delisting included Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest, Adventure Time: Magic Man's Head Games, OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes, Steven Universe: Save the Light, Steven Universe: Unleash the Light, and Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time. Steam listings for these games display a brief message announcing their removal from sale after December 23rd, 2024.
Delisted Cartoon Network Games:
It's noteworthy that some Cartoon Network Games, such as Cartoon Network Journeys VR and Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake, remain available. The soundtrack for OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes is also still on sale. However, Warner Bros. Discovery, Cartoon Network Games, and Adult Swim Games have yet to offer a public explanation for this action.
Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest, originally released in April 2014, is the oldest title affected. Other games, like Steven Universe: Save the Light and OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes, launched in 2018, with Steven Universe: Unleash the Light following in 2021. The removal of Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is particularly controversial, as it contained the canonical conclusion to the show's fifth season. Fan outcry over the unexpected delisting, mirroring the March 2024 incident, continues to grow.
