At EVO 2024, Capcom showcased Marvel vs. Capcom: Fighting Collection Arcade Classics, a compilation featuring seven classic titles from the iconic Versus series. This collection includes the legendary Marvel vs. Capcom 2, a game often cited as one of the greatest fighting games ever made. IGN sat down with Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto to discuss the project's development and Capcom's future plans for the series.
Matsumoto revealed a three-to-four-year development process, highlighting the significant effort involved in bringing this collection to fruition. He explained that initial discussions with Marvel led to some delays, but ultimately, the collaboration proved highly successful, driven by a shared desire to introduce these classic games to a new generation of players. "We've been planning for about three, four years to make this project a reality," Matsumoto stated, emphasizing Capcom's dedication to its fans and the enduring legacy of the Versus series.
