Call of Duty: Warzone Experiencing Lobby Crashing Issue

by Jack Jan 27,2025

Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.

A recent wave of reports detailed games freezing or crashing while loading, leading to unwarranted penalties. Although the root cause remains unpatched, Raven Software swiftly addressed the penalty aspect. A January 9th Twitter announcement confirmed the temporary suspension of Skill Rating penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before Ranked matches begin. This directly addresses player frustration over unjust punishments stemming from the bug.

This issue adds to a series of challenges faced by Raven Software in recent months. Following a temporary matchmaking outage in late December 2024 due to an accidental update, and ongoing concerns about cheating and other bugs, this new problem further complicates matters. The January 2025 major update didn't fully resolve all issues, highlighting the ongoing struggle to maintain game stability.

The temporary fix prevents penalties for disconnections before a Ranked match starts, but penalties remain for mid-match departures. While this mitigates the immediate frustration, the underlying bug persists, causing ongoing concern among players. The developers are actively working on a complete resolution.
